Peg Tams, Treasurer, Acting Secretary
Peg moved to Sarasota in 1998 after retiring from the State Department, where she served overseas as a foreign service officer.
She is familiar with the financial operation of nonprofit organizations, having spent 12 years in a nonprofit human service agency, and she has also served as the treasurer of a local organization.
Lily Myers, MA, LMHC, Community Program Chair
Lily was introduced to mindfulness in 1989 when she attended an MBSR teacher training with Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness in Worcester, MA. Since then she has been teaching mindfulness-based programs, including MBSR and Mindfulness, Food, and Body Image, a program for women that focuses on mindful eating.
At SMI she is a regular participant in the Friday meditation group and MBSR. She is a member of the mindful kids group.

Lynne Lockie, MSW, Vice Chair and
Core Program Committee Chair
Lynne Lockie, a clinical social worker and artist has been practicing meditation for 55 years, starting practice with her teacher Shunryu Suzuki, Roshi at San Francisco Center until his death. She founded the Minnesota Zen Center with others, and was a founding Board Member of the Chattanooga Center for Mindful Living.
Roxanne Williamson, Facilities Chair
Roxanne has been meditating with Betsy and SMI since 2010 after hearing a lecture by Betsy titled “Are You Out of Your Mind." Having an interest in self development, she has found this practice to be very beneficial.
Roxanne is originally from Ohio and moved to Sarasota in 1979. She retired from Sarasota County Parks and Recreation as a Parks Naturalist. She continues to enjoy outdoor activities and currently keeps ties by volunteering and serving on the Friends of S.C. Parks Board.

Kurt Maurer, Ph.D., Chair
Kurt started doing yoga in 1997 and practicing insight meditation in 2001. He is a past president of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington and founded their Good Works Program. Kurt is a volunteer math and science tutor in the Sarasota County schools. While working in an after-school program he tutored grades 3-5 students in math and science and started a chess club. With SMI collaborators he started a mindfulness meditation program at 5 Sarasota schools. In January - May of 2014, about 250 elementary and middle school children participated in this program.
Kurt and his wife Judy have been married for 47 years and have two children and five grandsons. Kurt is a scientist, retired from the U.S. Public Health Service.
