Deborah Riley, PhD
 

Deborah has been practicing yoga for more than 10 years and was introduced to mindfulness four five years ago when she moved to Florida. She has found mindfulness practice to be life changing as it brings healing to the heart, mind, and body. She embraces the teachings that help us live from the heart with compassion and wisdom, building a happier, more peaceful world. 

 

Deborah is a practitioner of continuous learning.  She regularly  leads the meditations and book reviews at the  Sarasota Mindfulness Institute (SMI) Friday sessions and she is also an active participant. She is currently leading programs in mindfulness meditation at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital as well as at the Art Center, Sarasota . She has completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR), Mindful Eating Program and the class 'Are you paying Attention?', a series of talks and interactive exercises from SMI member Carl Eisen,  largely based on the work of Professor and Director of Contemplative Neuroscience Dr. Amish Jha of the University of Miami and her recent book 'Peak Mind'. Deborah is currently learning about Mindfulness Based Movement practices,  and she is also a member of Kadampa Meditation Center, Florida. 

 

Deborah is a biologist, loves nature, family and friends, and to be beside the seaside!
